Buy the first 9 Wizard of Oz books by Ruth Plumly Thompson and save over 50%!
Over 20 years ago, Judy Lynn Del Rey, founder
of leading science fiction and fantasy publisher Del
Rey Books, set out to publish the Oz books of Ruth
Plumly Thompson for the first time ever in
paperback. Not only did this mark the first reissue
of these titles in the nearly two decades that they
had been out-of-print, but it also was the first
time ever that Thompson's first Oz book -- The
Royal Book of Oz -- appeared in print credited
to her and not Baum. We were thrilled to recently
obtain a supply of the very first printings of the
first nine Del Rey Ruth Plumly Thompson Oz books in
paperback! These first printings are all in
excellent condition, with only a few slight nicks
and creases typical of vintage books. Each title
boasts all of John R. Neill's original
black-and-white drawings and a comprehensive
four-page Oz map. Seven of these nine books were
recently reissued by Random House in
"Print-on-Demand" editions, but the cover art had to
be digitally "stretched" to accommodate wider
margins, thus distorting the original cover
paintings. Luckily, these original printings we
offer here retain the dimensions that preserve the
wonderful quality of the cover art.
Taking over for L Frank Baum was no easy task,
but Ruth Plumly Thompson managed to not only
maintain the Oz spirit but expand the Oz fun into
new territories and new adventures. Her rich
imagination and deft use of language added an extra
touch of humor and charm to her Oz creations.
Reading one of her books, you will find her Oz
characters both ingenious and endearing, and her Oz
adventures both joyful and surprising. The current
"Print-on-demand" editions are priced $15 to $19
each and copies of these first paperback editions
can be found online and in collectible stores for
$20 each and more. But now -- while our supply lasts
-- we're pleased to offer you the complete set of 9
Ruth Plumly Thompson paperbacks in their first Del
Rey printings for just $74.95! Don't miss out on
this great chance to add these wonderful editions to
your Oz library!
