In this second book in the Kendra Kandlestar series, Kendra is awakened one night by a messenger from another world. The visiting Unger tells Kendra that if she can find the fabled Door to Unger, which opens only one day a year, she will learn the truth about what happened to her family. However, the land of the Eens has a new leader who strictly forbids anyone from leaving their community, which is protected by the magic curtain. When Kendra and her group of friends finally make their way into Unger, they are faced with a cast of creatures that are difficult to trust. When the group must rush back home to take care of an injured Uncle Griffinskitch, one Unger follows them behind the magic curtian. But he is not who, or what, he appears to be — much to Kendra’s delight. Your young reader will enjoy returning to this fantasy world and will be eager to join Kendra on her next adventure as she tries to reunite with more of her family.
