Kendra Kandlestar is an Een, a small creature similar to an elf or a gnome, who lives peaceably with her fellow Eens behind a magic curtain that protects the land. Kendra’s community is turned upside down when a monster steals their magical Box of Whispers. A highly skilled search party is assembled, among them is Kendra who is recruited for her courage and her Uncle Griffinskitch who is brought along for his magic. The group must endure a difficult journey to the castle where the Box of Whispers is being held. The magical box contains the secret of each Een. However, Kendra has the biggest secret of them all. At the castle, they must face a dragon who will relinquish the box under one condition. When Kendra shows that she has enough courage to tell her secret, even though it may have dire consequences, she is rewarded with the box’s return. Your young reader will be transported to the fantasy world of the Eens not only through Lee Edward Födi’s clever words, but also through his detailed drawings of the strange creatures that they will encounter in the pages of this book.
