On Saturday, October 24th, from 4-6pm, Books of Wonder is thrilled to welcome
KATHERINE PATERSON and her entire, multi-talented family, including her husband,
JOHN PATERSON, and their sons
JOHN PATERSON jr. and DAVID PATERSON. Two-time Newbery Medalist
KATHERINE PATERSON, best-known for her 1977 classic, Bridge to Terebithia, will introduce her latest novel,
The Day of the Pelican, a story about a Muslim family who fleeing from persecution, leave their home in Kosovo and come to rural Vermont, only to be caught in the emotional upheaval following the destruction of the World Trade Center. JOHN PATERSON and JOHN PATERSON jr. will discuss their picture book,
Roberto’s Trip to the Top, a story loosely based on a Paterson family trip to Caracas and the first book they have written together. DAVID PATERSON, Katherine and John’s son, who wrote the screenplay for the film of Bridge to Terebithia, will talk about the process of turning his mother’s book into a script. It is a rare privilege for us to host this exceptionally talented family of writers at our store. Don’t miss this wonderful opportunity. Beginning at 4pm, the Patersons will discuss their works, take questions from the audience, and then sign copies of all their wonderful books. All ages. 4-6pm.
