Books of Wonder is very pleased to host an exhibit for the Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art starting on September 12^th and going through September 29^th. The Carle Museum is the only permanent US museum dedicated solely to the artwork of illustrations from children's books. The museum was founded in 2002 by Eric Carle, the renowned author and illustrator of more than 70 beloved children's books - including the classic, The Very Hungry Caterpillar -and Books of Wonder has been a proud supporter of it from its inception. Each year, the Carle Museum holds a benefit dinner in New York City to honor those in the children's book industry who have made especially significant contributions to the field. As part of this annual event, a silent auction of original art from major children's book artists is held, with all the proceeds going to fund the museum. Books of Wonder is proud to once again host an exhibit of all the art for the silent auction, beginning on September 12th, so that everyone – both those who will attend the dinner and the many other children's book lovers who cannot – will have a chance to view, admire, and if they like, bid on the art. Light refreshments will be served.

We will launch the exhibit with a special reception on September 12^th from 4pm to 6pm. Already confirmed to attend the reception are two-time Caldecott Medalists LEO & DIANE DILLON and award-winning artists PAT CUMMINGS and DAN YACCARINO, who have all contributed pieces to the auction. During this exhibit, you will be able to view the artwork (many of the pieces were created for the auction, so this may be your only chance to see them). Of course, if you wish, we can help you place a bid on any piece you'd like to try to purchase.

Also, beginning September 12th, you will be able to purchase a membership to the Carle Museum at Books of Wonder. And, because we love the Carle Museum and all that they do so much, beginning September 12th all members of the Carle Museum will receive a 10% discount on all purchases at the store when they present their Carle Museum membership card!
