Books of Wonder
is pleased to announce that we will be hosting a
special event for two young adventurers. On
Saturday August 7th
GANNON
and WYATT WHEELER young conservationists and explorers along with
author/mother
PATTI WHEELER and co-author
KEITH HERMSTREET
will be at the store to introduce their first
adventure journal
Travels with Gannon and Wyatt: Botswana.
In GANNON
and
WYATT’s first safari, the 15 year old
twins travel to Botswana where they encounter
all sorts of dangers, including Africa’s Big
Five—elephants, rhinos Cape buffaloes, leopards
and lions. They also encounter the most
dangerous animal on the African continent, the
human. The boys arrive among all the beautiful
natural landscape of Botswana, only to learn a
poacher has injured a lioness. The boys, along
with their mother and the exploring party, set
off to save the injured lion and her cubs.
During their travels around the world,
GANNON
and WYATT
have had the opportunity to meet many
wonderful people, but most importantly they have
learned of the many problems that face the
world. In the interest of helping to solve
these problems and promote awareness in the
United States, the twins founded the Youth
Exploration Society or YES. This
organization helps young people who are
passionate about travel and doing their part in
improving the well being of our planet, find a
way to share their stories, discuss the issues
and join together in making a difference. On
Saturday August 7th, 2010 from 12-2pm
GANNON
and WYATT,
along with their mother,
PATTI WHEELER,
and co-author
KEITH
HERMSTREET will make a special
presentation about their new book
Travels With Gannon and Wyatt: Botswana,
show special video clips of their travels in the
African wilderness, explain about YES,
and sign copies of their book. All ages.
12-2pm.
