Books of Wonder
is pleased to announce that at noon on Saturday,
June 12th we will be hosting three
wonderful authors of fantastic fiction for tween
and teen readers:
NEAL SHUSTERMAN,
KATE MILFORD, and
SCOTT MEBUS.
Visiting from Minnesota,
award-winning author,
NEAL SHUSTERMAN,
whose The Schwa Was Here and Antsy
Does Time are set in our own beloved
Brooklyn, will present his new book,
Bruiser,
in which 16-year-old Tennyson, at first fuming
over his twin sister dating Bruiser – the guy
voted “most likely to go to jail” – discovers
that not only is Bruiser okay, but that somehow
their cuts and bruises start to magically vanish
overnight, while Bruiser seems to acquire a mass
of new hurts. Brooklyn’s own
KATE MILFORD
will introduce her debut novel,
The Boneshaker,
the tale of 13-year-old Natalie Minks who loves
clockwork powered automatons and ends up being
her small Missouri hometown’s only hope against
a mysterious marauding Medicine Show that is
hiding a horrible secret. Manhattan resident,
SCOTT MEBUS,
will bring us
The Sorcerer’s Secret—the third
and final installment of the Gods of
Manhattan series. War is brewing in
Manahatta, and it seems that young Rory, who,
though a mortal of Manhattan, can see the spirit
world of Manahatta, is the only hope for the
survival of both New York Cities against the
forces of evil. Beginning at 12,
SCOTT MEBUS,
KATE MILFORD,
and NEAL
SHUSTERMAN will read from their
books, take questions from the audience and sign
copies of all their books. Ages 10 and up.
12-2pm.
