Books of Wonder
is thrilled to announce that on Saturday, June 5th
we will be hosting a wonderful group of SEVEN
talented authors and artists who have both
written and illustrated their latest
picture books – including two beloved Caldecott
Medalists! On hand will be Caldecott Medalist
URI SHULEVITZ
to tell us about
When I Wore My Sailor Suit,
a story based on the author/artists own
childhood about a boy’s heroic adventures when
he dons a sailor suit; Caldecott Medalist
ED YOUNG
will enchant us with
Moon Bear, the story about a
wonderful but sadly endangered species of bears
in South East Asia; author/artist
GREG FOLEY
will present the second book about the
adventures of Willoughby,
Willoughby and the Moon,
where Willoughby discovers the many mysteries of
our nightly neighbor; Chair of the Illustration
Department at Parsons School of Design,
STEVEN GUARNACCIA,
re-lays the foundation of the Three Little Pig
story and pay homage to three great architects
in
The Three Little Pigs: An Architectural Tale;
author/artist
LAURA LJUNGKVIST shows the great and
many things the cockatoo, Pepi, loves to sing
about in
Pepi Sings a New Song; debut
author and illustrator,
DUNCAN TONATIUH
will introduce Dear Primo: A Letter to
My Cousin, a story in letters about two
cousins who live far apart – one in a big city
in America and the other on a family farm in
Mexico; and
ROBERT WEINSTOCK will share his
wonderful new collection of dinosaur poems,
Can You Dig It?
Beginning at 12pm,
these SEVEN talents will introduce their
titles, take questions from the audience, and
then sign copies of all their excellent books.
Ages 4-8. 12-2pm.
