This Thursday, January
28th, from 6-8pm,
Books of Wonder
is pleased to host an event featuring
SEVEN talented authors for teens and tweens, all
visiting NYC from other locales.
J.T.
DUTTON will introduce
Freaked,
in which a die-hard fan of the Grateful Dead is
determined to see them in concert at all costs;
LISA
GREENWALD will amuse us with
My Life in
Pink and Green, about a
12-year-old make-up artist extraordinaire;
ELLEN
HOPKINS will regale us with her
latest hard-hitting novel,
Tricks,
a collection of five tales that interweave to
show the harsh reality of teen prostitution;
ANN HAYWOOD
LEAL will introduce us to an aspiring young
poet in
Also Known as Harper;
SYDNEY
SALTER will bring in her two new titles,
My Big Nose
and Other Natural Disasters about
a junior high school girl trying to meet boys
while coping with her displeasure at her
appearance, as well as
Jungle
Crossing, where a family trip to Mexico
turns into quite an adventure complete with
Mayans and ruins; and
FRAN CANNON
SLAYTON will delight us with
When the
Whistle Blows, an emotionally complex
story that intertwines seven seemingly unrelated
stories and blends them into one compelling
read. And, we have s a last-minute but welcome
addition,
ALBERT BORRIS, who will introduce
Crash Into Me, a dark tale about four
friends who make a suicide pact. Beginning at
6pm, the SEVEN authors will discuss their
titles, take questions from the audience, and
then sign copies of all their great books. Ages
10 and up. 6-8pm. |
